Malevolent Marionette

The shop was dimly lit, the air thick with the scent of aged wood and secrets. Lucy, a curious young girl, wandered inside, drawn to the doll’s antique charm. It was unlike anything she had seen before, its intricately painted face a mix of beauty and horror. Ignoring the shopkeeper's hushed warnings about the marionette's dark history, she clutched it close and took it home.

That night, strange occurrences began. Whispers slithered through the shadows, and objects shifted in the corners of her room. Lucy felt the doll’s gaze upon her, cold and unblinking, as if it possessed a life of its own. Each night grew more unnerving, the whispers crescendoing into taunts that echoed in her mind. Desperate and terrified, Lucy resolved to return the marionette. She raced back to the shop, only to find the space where it had stood completely vanished, replaced by an abandoned alley.

Panic coursed through her as she turned to leave. The marionette had followed her, its mouth twisting into a wicked grin. Just then, she felt a cold hand grasp her own, its grip unyielding. “You belong to me now,” it whispered, sending a shiver down her spine.
