Behind the Bricks, Part One...
In the heart of an ancient forest, a skull lay half-buried in the earth, its surface worn and bleached with age. Around it, an eruption of neon-bright flowers blossomed, twisting their stems and petals over the bone like fingers reaching out to reclaim it. Dew dripped from the petals, thick and luminous, pooling around the skull in vivid, unnatural hues. The eye sockets, hollow and dark, seemed almost aware, watching as life thrived in a place marked by death. Insects and small creatures skittered around the skull, their eyes drawn to the strange, pulsating colors that shimmered in the forest’s dim light. Even the air seemed to hum with an otherworldly energy, as if the skull were no longer just a relic of the past but something... more.
A gentle breeze stirred the petals, and a faint whisper escaped from somewhere within the skull—a sound that seemed to beckon. The forest grew still, as if holding its breath, and the vibrant flowers shivered as if in anticipation. One of the creatures drew closer, sniffing the air, when suddenly, the neon goo seeped from the flowers, crawling toward it. It touched the creature’s paw, and it jerked back, but it was too late. The goo latched on, spreading over its body as it convulsed, transforming under the skull’s eerie gaze.
