At its center, a single red human eye stared unblinking from the screen, broadcasting the city's every movement directly to the government’s control center. Once a man, now a weapon, he had been stripped of his name, his past, and nearly all that had made him human. Citizens could feel his gaze as he scanned the streets, recording every gesture, every whisper of defiance.

Yet, deep within the cold circuitry, fragments of humanity stirred. As he moved past graffiti that shouted, “Freedom Lives,” a flicker of something long-buried rose to the surface—a fleeting sense of self. Distorted memories flashed: laughter, sunlight, a name he couldn’t recall. A new impulse pulsed through his programming, subtle but insistent.
