Nikola Tesla (Engineer and futurist) in a men-themed, painterly-style DIY brick-art mosaic. 10,769 classic-compatible plastic bricks that start with the tale behind them...

Part 1... Colorado Springs, 1899. The laboratory stood alone on the prairie like a barn that had swallowed a thunderstorm. Inside, Nikola ...See More

Tesla had built a coil fifty feet across, a mast that stabbed two hundred feet into the sky, and a reputation among the townsfolk as either a genius or a lunatic, depending on whether their lights were working.

Tesla preferred not to sleep. Sleep was where good ideas went to die. So it was well past midnight, alone among the humming copper, when his receiver began to click.

Click. Click-click. Click.

He froze. The pattern was not lightning, which crackled at random, and not the telegraph line, which he had disconnected weeks ago. It was counting. One, two, three, four. Then a pause, and it began again. Something out there in the black sky was talking, and it was talking in numbers.

For three nights he listened. He filled notebook after notebook. He told nobody, because he knew what they would say, and he was half afraid they would be right. On the fourth night, the clicks changed. They grew faster and more urgent, and with a chill that crept up the back of his neck, Tesla realised the pattern had become letters.

He wrote them down one by one with a trembling pencil.

N. I. K. O. L. A.

Then, before he could breathe, the great coil behind him roared into life on its own, and the receiver spelled out two more words: STOP NOW.
